# ChatGPT Work

> Connect Glasser to Work so it can use paid data in your tasks.

Connect Glasser as a plugin to use paid data in Work reports, spreadsheets, and other tasks.
The connection steps below show the ChatGPT desktop app. Select **Work** before sending your task.
Your account and workspace must allow custom MCP servers. Select a screenshot to enlarge it.

For regular chats, use the [ChatGPT Chat guide](/docs/mcp-server/chatgpt).
If you already installed Glasser there, skip to **Check the connection** below.

<Accordion title="Using ChatGPT on the web?">
  1. Open [Plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins), select **+ → Add custom MCP server**,
     and name it `glasser`. Enter `https://api.glasser.ai/mcp` as the **Server URL** and
     select **OAuth**. Review the connection notice, select **I understand and want to
     continue**, then select **Create as a plugin**.
  2. Open Glasser in [Personal plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins?view=personal) and
     select **+** to install it. Complete the sign-in prompts: sign in to Glasser,
     choose your Workspace, and select **Allow**.
  3. Start a new **Work** chat. Type `@`, select **glasser**, and send the free balance
     prompt in **Check the connection** below.

  <Step title="Check the connection">
    Return to ChatGPT. Under **Installed**, open the **…** menu beside `glasser` and
    select **Try now**. Select **Work** mode and check that `glasser` is selected in the
    composer. If it is missing, type `@` and select **glasser**.

    Send this free balance check:

    ```text wrap theme={null}
    Use Glasser to check my available balance. Do not make any paid Runs.
    ```

    ChatGPT should use Glasser's `balance` tool and return your balance. This check is free;
    a zero balance still confirms that the connection works. Add funds in the
    [Glasser console](https://app.glasser.ai) before a paid Run.
  </Step>

## Using Work locally?

For local tasks in the desktop app, you can also use the [Skill setup](/docs/setup-skill/chatgpt-work).
If you prefer to configure MCP directly in the desktop app, follow these steps:

<Accordion title="Add Glasser in desktop MCP settings">
  1. Open **Settings → MCP servers** and select **Add server**.
  2. Name it `Glasser`, choose **Streamable HTTP**, and enter `https://api.glasser.ai/mcp`.
  3. Save the server, then select **Restart**.
  4. Select **Authenticate** for Glasser. Sign in, choose your Glasser Workspace, and select **Allow**.
  5. Start a new local Work task and use the free balance prompt above to check the connection.

  This configuration is for local tasks. For cloud tasks, install the plugin using the steps above.
</Accordion>

## Try your first request

```text wrap theme={null}
Use Glasser to research Apple's financial statements and stock price history for a comparison report. Show me the available data and price, then wait for my approval before any paid Run.
```

After you approve, Work can retrieve the data and use it in your report. It should report the
result and charge.

If custom MCP servers are unavailable, check your account and workspace settings. On a managed
workspace, ask your administrator whether they are enabled.
