How to Research a Spotify Podcast with an AI Agent
Use the Glasser Skill to retrieve Spotify show and episode records, build a source-backed shortlist, and decide what needs closer review.

What can an agent learn from a Spotify podcast link?
A Spotify show link is enough to start a focused podcast research task: identify the show, retrieve an episode sample, and decide which episodes deserve a closer look. This is useful when you are preparing a guest interview, assessing a possible partnership, or building a reading and listening list around a particular subject.
With the Glasser Skill, you can give that job to your existing agent. The workflow below produces a shortlist based on available show and episode records. Each recommendation should retain its source and explain which part of the record supports it.
A useful brief starts with the show and your purpose
Give the agent the Spotify show URL, a research question, and a stopping point. “Find episodes that might help me prepare an interview about developer tools; review one page of episodes” gives it a clearer job than “research this podcast.”
Decide what would make an episode relevant. You might look for a product category in its description, a named guest, or an explicit discussion topic. The agent can assess those criteria against returned text; the criteria do not establish that the data source offers matching search filters.
Episode descriptions have a limited evidential scope
A description can support “this episode is advertised as a discussion of developer tooling.” A claim about what a guest said requires the relevant audio or transcript. Keep those conclusions separate when the agent drafts your brief.
The Spotify show operation and episode-list operation in Glasser both require a URL. The episode operation also exposes a cursor input. Neither publishes a fixed output schema, so ask the agent to work with the fields actually returned; a title, date, description, or episode link may need to be marked unavailable.
How do you connect the Glasser Skill?
Start from the agent you already use
Paste this into a local agent such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor:
set up https://glasser.ai/SKILL.md
Follow the official setup guide for your client. Local setup saves the Skill, installs the Glasser CLI, and takes you through browser sign-in. It requires terminal and internet access and Node.js 22 or newer; let the setup instructions check those prerequisites.
Once setup is complete, check the connection:
Use Glasser to check the balance available to this agent.
Do not retrieve paid data.
A successful balance response confirms access even if the available balance is zero. If an existing connection already covers your podcast task, reuse it before adding another data source.
MCP is an option for supported assistants
For a cloud assistant, follow its client-specific guide under Glasser MCP. The Skill setup guide also directs supported cloud assistants through this connection path. You can then give the assistant the same podcast task, replacing “installed Glasser Skill” in the prompt below with “connected Glasser MCP tools.”
This article uses Glasser's available show and episode operations. Spotify playback controls, personal subscriptions, and playlist management require their own documented capabilities.
What should you ask the agent to retrieve first?
Check the two operations before buying data
Show details and an episode list are separate operations. Ask the agent to inspect both, explain the current charge terms, and propose a small retrieval plan. Glasser's Search and Inspect are free; retrieving data creates a Run under the selected operation's pricing.
The inspected podcast operations charge per request and can charge for no result. Limiting the final shortlist to five rows does not necessarily limit the number of records returned by a page or the number of purchases the agent makes. Set the request count explicitly.
A prompt for a first research pass
Replace the bracketed inputs before sending this editorial task template:
Use the installed Glasser Skill to research this Spotify show:
[show URL].
My purpose is [interview preparation or partnership research].
I want episodes relevant to [topic or guest].
Find and inspect the show-details and episode-list operations.
Show the current prices, no-result charges, and planned requests.
Wait for my approval before paid Runs.
After approval, retrieve the show details and one page of episodes.
Stop there; do not follow another page or buy transcripts.
Return up to five relevant candidates. For each, include the
available title, date, episode link, supporting description,
and why it fits. Mark missing fields and uncertain matches.
Describe only what the retrieved records support.
Include each Run URL, status, provider outcome, and final charge.
If the sample cannot answer my question, explain the shortfall.
Review the plan before approving it. If you already have reliable show details, you can narrow the request to the episode list. Ask the agent to explain any additional operation it proposes.
What makes the resulting shortlist worth using?
Every candidate needs a traceable reason
Use the following as a report specification. These suggested review fields should be filled from the actual provider response, with missing values marked.
| Review field | What to check |
|---|---|
| Show identity | Does the returned record match your intended show? |
| Episode identity | Is there a usable title or source link? |
| Relevant passage | Which returned description supports the topic match? |
| Date | What date is supplied, and is its meaning clear? |
| Selection reason | Does it follow from that passage? |
| Unknowns | What still requires listening or another source? |
The episode link locates the content. The Run URL traces the data retrieval and its charge. Keeping both makes it easier to revisit a recommendation without repeating the purchase.
A description-based match is a lead for further research
Suppose an episode description mentions a discussion of API maintenance. The agent can recommend that episode for review and quote the relevant description. It should leave the guest's actual position, the depth of the discussion, and any specific conclusions unresolved until you inspect the content.
Likewise, an episode date does not establish a podcast's audience size or publishing consistency. Those questions require different evidence and a suitable observation period.
For a task based on actual video text, see YouTube transcripts with an AI agent. Keep that transcript task separate from a metadata-based podcast shortlist.
When should you retrieve another page?
Continue only when the extra records answer a clear gap
After the first page, the agent should tell you whether it found useful candidates and whether the result contains evidence of more pages. A cursor input alone does not prove that a particular response includes a usable continuation value or that the sample represents the full catalog.
A useful follow-up is: “I still need an episode about pricing. Show the cost of one more page, then wait.” Approve another request when that missing topic matters. If the first shortlist is sufficient, finish the brief using the records already obtained.
You can start this bounded podcast task with the Glasser Skill and expand it after reviewing the first result. Additional shows, pages, and transcripts each need an explicit scope in the plan.
An incomplete answer needs an explanation
Ask the agent to distinguish a short episode list, missing descriptions, an unrecognized show, and a provider error. Glasser's result documentation requires checking the Run status, provider response, and charge separately; COMPLETED alone does not prove the podcast records are useful.
If a connection is lost, ask it to recover the original Run. Replaying that purchase must keep the same idempotency key and execution parameters. A fresh Run is another purchase, so “try again” should have a clear reason.
Documentation and endpoint contracts checked October 15, 2026. This guide uses documentation research and inspected contracts; the prompts have not been validated against paid podcast responses.
Questions about podcast research with an agent
Can the agent summarize every episode?
It can summarize the text it actually retrieves. With show and episode descriptions, the result is a description-based summary; a full audio summary needs separately verified transcript or transcription access.
Do I need a Spotify-specific MCP server?
A connected Glasser agent can discover the show and episode operations used here through Glasser's general tools. Other tasks, including playback or account management, need capabilities checked specifically for those purposes.
Is podcast research through Glasser free?
Discovery, inspection, and the balance check are free; data Runs follow the selected operation's current terms. The inspected podcast operations can charge even when no data is returned, so review the plan before approving retrieval.
