Before you start

Can I search by city, neighborhood or business category?

Put the category and area in your request. Serper Places supports a location in the search phrase. DataForSEO Business Listings supports categories and coordinate-based geographic filtering. Your agent needs to choose the endpoint and inputs that match the area you describe.

Will this find every business in the area?

No. Results depend on provider coverage, search terms and request limits. A count describes the returned sample, not a census of local businesses. Repeated listings should be deduplicated by a stable listing identifier where available.

Will every business have a website or phone number?

Available fields vary by source and listing. These examples focus on names, locations, ratings and websites. Keep unavailable fields blank. A missing website in a listing does not prove the business has no website.

How should I compare areas?

Use the same business category and comparable search coverage for each area. Ask your agent to group the returned businesses and calculate counts or average ratings. These are calculations on the retrieved sample, not market-size estimates.

Are the results and costs shown here real?

These are fictional walkthroughs, not recorded API runs. Names, domains, counts and costs illustrate the output format. Actual coverage and charges depend on the selected endpoints, returned data and number of calls. Your agent should report the actual charge with its result.
